Scene Lab
A Hands-On Workshop for Directors & Actors
Workshop Your Scene, Sharpen Your Skills, and Build Industry Connections
This intimate workshop is limited to only 4 directors and 8 actors, ensuring focused time and personalized feedback. Participants will submit their resumes and reels for consideration, and union members receive a discount.
Structure:
Each scene group will have 20 minutes to workshop a 3-page maximum scene, just like on a real set. You may use any or all of the actors, but each director is paired with at least 2 actors. After 20 minutes, there will be a 10-minute feedback session. Each person must submit written feedback to every participant (this can be submitted anonymously).
Directors
This is your chance to practice under pressure, build confidence, and refine your directing chops. Expect to direct in front of the entire class, blocking and adjusting the scene in multiple ways under a ticking clock—because on a real set, you often have only 5-10 minutes to block and rehearse.
Actors
Spectators
Be a fly on the wall—learn by observing and providing feedback for all your fellow scene lab members! Everyone is required to submit anonymous written feedback for each member, to foster growth and improvement. A public feedback session for further discussion will follow each workshopped scene.
